Vanessa Anne Hudgens
Actress and singer Venessa Anne Hudgens was born December 14, 1988. As an actress she has been enjoyed roles in numerous television programs such as the Brothers Garcia, Drake and Josh, and even the Suite Live. Her first staring as came in 2004 in the film Thunderbirds where she enjoyed the role of Tintin.
Vanessa rose to true fame with the success of the High School Musical franchise. This role, along with some early controversy between her and her boyfriend Zac Efron, helped to catapult Vanessa into the spotlight.
In addition to her acting career, Vanessa is also an accomplished singer. Her debut album V was released in 2006 and moved quickly up the charts. This album eventually went gold. Her second album was released in 2008 and was also met with great acclaim.
Growing Up
Hudgens grew up in California as the daughter of a firefighter, and her family lived up and down the west coast. Her first roles were in musical theater where at age eight she appeared in local productions of a variety of different musicals. Production such as The Wizard of Oz and the Music Man filled out her early resume.
By age ten she was auditioning for commercials and television and at age 15 she formally began her professional acting career. In 2005 she landed the role of Gabriella Montez in High School Musical, opposite to Zac Efron. This role eventually led to a national tour, and eventually resulted in a recording contract and a hit album.
Looking forward
Overall, this talented actress has a bright career ahead of her. Rarely do you see the combined ability to act and sing and excel at both. Although her life has experienced a bit of controversy, this has actually served to improve her notoriety. Now that Vanessa has experience in the television, film and music genre, the next obvious step is to transition from teen star to acting adult.
Most of her previous roles have served the teen and tween market and she does face the risk of being categorized as only a child actress. If she can find the right role to overcome this classification and showcase her talents, the future for her is very bright indeed.
